Corn

As the weather starts to warm up corn is a great addition to my backyard food garden.
Corn is a member of the grass family of plants along with sugar cane, so has adapted to heat and bright strong light. Corn has been bred over the last hundred years to grow in more temperate areas also. As corn takes a lot of space I prefer to plant more heat tolerant varieties like Balinese and Hawaiian after it gets too hot for tomatoes, lettuce and green leafy vegetables...........................................................
